2025 were the International Year of Action of the World March of Women. Throughout this year, our solidarity has grown beyond borders, despite the many struggles we have faced. As we reach the end of the year, we wish to honour it by remembering and celebrating what we have achieved together, in solidarity with our sisters across the world.
As the year closes, we are noting the schedule of for 2026, expand the dates for resistance!
In 2025, the International Year of Action of the World March of Women has started. Our feminist struggle has the inner power of turning the manifestations of the rising far right into struggle and solidarity. In the beginning of the February, The World March of Women shared call for action for the 6th International Action Year. This year is intended to enhance our international feminist solidarity around the slogan of: We March Against Wars and Capitalism, We Defend the Sovereignty of Peoples and Buen Vivir!

On February 18th, the International Day of Solidarity with Sahrawi Women, we came together with comrades and allies from around the world for the pre-launch of our 6th International Action. This action, which will officially begin on March 8th in Western Sahara, is part of our unwavering commitment to amplifying the voices of Sahrawi women and their ongoing struggle for justice, freedom, and self-determination.
On 8 March 2025, the 6th International Action of the World March of Women (WMW) has officially kicked off in Western Sahara, bringing together feminist activists from across the globe. This powerful movement, which has struggled for women’s rights and equality for all since its inception in 2000, continues to mobilize and stand in solidarity with women in occupied territories, conflict zones, and oppressed communities worldwide.

The Zionist occupation army launched a series of violent raids at dawn on 17 March, targeting civilian homes throughout the Gaza Strip. This offensive is the first military escalation, breaking the ceasefire agreement that came into force on January 19, 2025. This intensification of bombing and widespread destruction is part of the genocide that “Israel” has been committing against the Palestinian people since October 7, 2023. In this latest attack alone, almost 430 Palestinians were killed, and many more were injured or trapped under the rubble; all this under the silence of the entire world, which is watching Israel continue its campaign of extermination against the Palestinian people.
On 30 March, Palestine Land Day, we reaffirm our unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people against Zionist colonialism, genocide, and forced displacement. This day marks the Palestinian resistance and its ongoing struggle for its legitimate right to its land and self-determination. This cause is at the heart of the 6th International Action of the World March of Women.
On April 24th, women from Sri Lanka and across the globe came together as part of the 6th International Action of the World March of Women (WMW), under the powerful slogan: “Life Over Profit, Peace Over War.” The 3-day gathering, held in Sri Lanka and organized by the Women’s Centre, WMW, and Action Aid France, focused on resisting transnational corporate power and raising the struggles and resistance of women workers.
Why Sri Lanka?
The Women’s Centre, founded in 1982, has long been a force in Sri Lanka’s labor rights movement, particularly in the garment sector. As a strong advocate for women’s labor rights, the center has stood at the frontlines during major strikes and mobilizations, supporting women workers in demanding dignity, fair wages, and protection from violence and exploitation.
Sri Lanka’s garment industry, where women make up the vast majority of the workforce, continues to be marked by low wages, long hours, and unsafe working conditions. These systemic issues are compounded by widespread gender-based discrimination and a lack of social protections. In the face of these challenges, women-led labor organizing continues to grow—despite strong opposition from both corporations, institutions and state policies.
On June 13, the World March of Women across Europe came together for 2 days in Marseille, to realize the European Stage of the 6th International Action, spoke up and said ‘’We march against capitalism and war, we defend people’s sovereignty and buen vivir.’’

As part of its 6th International Action, the World March of Women (WMW) organized the Mongolian Gobi Nomadic Herders’ Association and the World Alliance of Mobile Indigenous Peoples (WAMIP) in hosting a forum: “Empowering Herder Women: Challenges, Solutions and Opportunities” from June 27–29, 2025 in Umnugobi Province, Mongolia. This grassroots event elevated the voices of Mongolian herder women as they tackle urgent issues like the impacts of mining operations on pastures and water sources on environmental justice, barriers to health and education in remote nomadic communities, and economic resilience in the face of climate disruption. Through intergenerational and roundtable discussions, elders will share their “Golden Advice” on traditional climate adaptation strategies.
The 6th International Action continued in Hatay, Samandağ. Women from Iraq, Jordan, Algiers, Tunis, Palestine, Morocco, Kurdistan and Capire from Brazil met in Hatay, Samandağ for a 4-day program. Samandağ sits behind Keldağı, close to the Syria border, and directly across the Mediterranean from Gaza, separated by borders but united in struggle against zionist genocide in Gaza and against Syrian massacres of Alawites.
Why Hatay
Hatay has significance for this meeting by being placed on the border of Syria and on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. Citizens of Hatay speak Arabic, which made it possible for sisters from MENA and citizens of Hatay to have an immediate bond. Not only the language but also the common experiences of people give birth to this bond. Imperialist wars in the Middle East and the 6th February Earthquakes in Hatay, causing displacement, food, water, land grabbing and electricity shortages, pushing fragile groups to the edges.

From the 8th to the 13th of September, the 3rd Nyéléni Global Forum took place in Kandy, Sri Lanka. The 1st and 2nd editions were focused on food sovereignty and agroecology, while the most recent edition built on systemic transformation drinking from both struggles. For the World March of Women, since the 1st edition in 2007, Nyéléni has been an alliance of collective construction and a powerful platform where global popular movements develop together to create alternatives and dialogue agendas. It has also been a space to inspire and collectively organize mobilizations, popular actions, practices, and experiences. The 6th International Action started on 18th February, 2025: International Day of Solidarity with Saharawi Women and ended on 17 October: International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Throughout the year of 2025, comrades of WMW held simultaneous events, meetings, and demonstrations in their regions for the closure of the 6th International Action with the slogan of ‘’We march against wars and capitalism; we defend the sovereignty of people and buen vivir!’’

Between 12 and 16 November, the People’s Summit take place in Belém (Pará), ahead of COP-30. The World March of Women is represented by a delegation of activists mainly from the northern Amazon region, also from other states such as Maranhão, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, as well as from the WMW in other countries such as Turkey, Palestine, Western Sahara, Kenya, Indonesia, Venezuela, Chile, Argentina and Peru.
Alliance with the autonomous process of social movements is one of the most important characteristics of the World March of Women as a grassroots movement. In defense of anti-capitalist, anti-racist feminism, we denounce the capture of multilateral spaces such as COP by corporations, which only offer false and insufficient solutions to the enormous challenge we are facing. As we are marching from Nyeleni to COP30, we continue to chant ’’Systemic Transformation, now or never.’’
