Regional Meeting of the World March of Women Americas Nalú Faria,
More than 23 women from all regions of the Americas are meeting in Santiago de Chile from 21 to 24 November with the rallying call “With the strength of Nalú, we continue on the march!”.
The meeting of the Americas Nalú Faria is powerfully significant, not only for being preparatory to the VI Action, but also for being the first without the guidance and support of Nalú, the sister and comrade who for years was our voice at the International Committee, one of the main promoters of the World March of Women in the Americas and advocates of internationalism and feminist economics.
The Américas has a long tradition of meetings dedicated to planning, creating political positions and generating reflections for collective action. In 2022 it held its last meeting in Guatemala which served as a preparatory activity for the 13th International Meeting in Ankara Turkey (October 2023).
Within the framework of the agreements of the 13th International Meeting of the WMW, the assembly agreed to dedicate the 6th action to the denunciation of wars and capitalism and to the construction of sovereignties and Buen Vivir. In Santiago, the WMW of the Americas is considering the design of its continental actions as well as its contributions to the global activities for the 6th International Action that will be held the 8th March from the camps of the Saharawi people, in the territories liberated by the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic.
In addition, the meeting in Santiago aims to deepen the analysis of the context and the realization of a space for training and reflection on migrations and its impact on the work and lives of women.
Delegates from Quebec, USA, Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru (Lima and Macro Norte), Bolivia, Chile, Argentina and Paraguay will participate in a public activity at the Universidad Academia de Humanismo Cristiano, on the 22nd of November from 3pm, as part of the activities of the 25th of November, international day of struggle against violence against women. At the event, two panels formed by representatives of the continental movement will share with the public the challenges and proposals of the WMW in the context of the struggles against sexism, capitalism, racism, as well as our resistance against wars and proposals from the feminist economy for the construction of sovereignties and Buen vivir.
With Nalú we continue on the march against wars and capitalism, for sovereignty and Buen Vivir.
