We, the World March of Women, declare our unwavering solidarity with the feminist, popular uprising taking place across Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We stand with the women and youth who, from Nairobi to Kisumu, Mombasa to countless towns and neighborhoods, have taken to the streets with courage. What began as a protest against the oppressive Finance Bill of 2024 has risen into a historic movement\u2014a mass rebellion demanding justice, dignity, and freedom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We recognize this uprising not as an isolated event, but as part of a global feminist resistance against capitalist, patriarchal, and authoritarian systems. The violence deployed by the Kenyan state\u2014rubber bullets, live ammunition, tear gas, disinformation, and targeted sexual violence\u2014is not unfamiliar to us. We denounce these tactics as instruments which are designed to crush resistance and punish those who dare to imagine and demand a different future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We declare:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • That the streets belong to the people, and the people have the right to resist.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • That violence against women protestors is a political weapon rooted in patriarchy, aimed at silencing women\u2019s voices.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • That the economic is political, and the political is gendered.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • That women, especially young women and working-class women, are disproportionately impacted by austerity, surveillance, corporate greed, and state violence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • That true liberation requires dismantling all forms of oppression \u2014 economic, racial, colonial, and gender-based \u2014 in Kenya and everywhere.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    We affirm:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • The power of collective feminist resistance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • The right of Kenyan people to protest without fear.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • The memory and legacy of those who were murdered in this struggle, whose names and lives will not be forgotten.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • The legacy of Saba Saba, and the rightful place of this generation in continuing the struggle for democracy and liberation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      We condemn the Kenyan government\u2019s deliberate use of sexual violence and state-sponsored goons to intimidate and violate protestors. These acts are crimes against the people and crimes against humanity. We demand full accountability, reparations, and justice for all survivors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      To our sisters in Kenya: Your struggle is our struggle. Your voices echo across borders. Your resistance strengthens ours. From Latin America to Asia, from Africa to Europe, from the Middle East to North America\u2014we rise with you. We urge international human rights bodies, global feminist movements, and all people of conscience to pressure the Kenyan government to end its violent crackdown, respect the right to protest, and uphold human rights.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      We call on our members and allies worldwide to amplify Kenyan voices, support grassroots organizing, and stand ready to act in solidarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
