The International Committee (IC) of the World March of Women (WMW) gathered in person in Nairobi, Kenya, from 31 January to 4 February 2026. Hosted by the Kenyan National Coordination (NCB Kenya), the meeting brought together the International Committee of the WMW to strengthen the movement\u2019s structure, define strategic priorities, and prepare for the 14th International Meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strengthening Our Movement in a Changing World<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting opened with a powerful mystique organized by NCB Kenya, grounding the discussions in African feminist resistance and internationalist solidarity. Throughout the five days, IC members engaged in in-depth political and organizational reflection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regional context analyses were presented by Africa, the Americas, Asia-Oceania, Europe, and the MENA region. Each region highlighted key trends in violence, deepening inequalities, militarization, authoritarianism, the rise of conservative and fundamentalist forces, and the shrinking space for social movements. Participants collectively reflected on the impacts on women and feminist organizing, identifying urgent challenges for the WMW and reaffirming the need to strengthen grassroots organizing and international solidarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the sharing of regional political contexts, the International Committee dedicated substantial time to discussing how the WMW should prepare for the coming period. Members reviewed the movement\u2019s organizational structure, political orientation, decision-making processes, and strategic priorities. Discussions focused on strengthening the WMW\u2019s internal functioning, enhancing coordination between regions and international bodies, and ensuring that the movement remains politically coherent, democratic, and rooted in grassroots realities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IC also addressed medium- and long-term planning, including priorities toward 2030, financial sustainability, alliances, and concrete actions for 2026. Preparations for the 14th International Meeting were also discussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 4 February, IC members conducted a field visit to the Kayole chapter of the WMW in Nairobi. During the field visit to Kayole, members of the International Committee were warmly welcomed by local militants of the WMW. IC met with grassroots women organizers, listened to their experiences, and learned about their daily struggles and achievements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Women from Kayole shared testimonies about organizing against gender-based violence, building community solidarity networks, and sustaining feminist activism under difficult socio-economic conditions. The exchange reinforced the centrality of grassroots organizing to the WMW\u2019s identity. The visit was a powerful moment of mutual learning and solidarity, strengthening ties between the international leadership and local activists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nairobi meeting marked an important step in consolidating the World March of Women as a strong, democratic, and action-oriented international feminist movement, ready to confront the challenges of the current political moment with renewed clarity and collective commitment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
