We, the World March of Women, declare our unwavering solidarity with the feminist, popular uprising taking place across Kenya.
We stand with the women and youth who, from Nairobi to Kisumu, Mombasa to countless towns and neighborhoods, have taken to the streets with courage. What began as a protest against the oppressive Finance Bill of 2024 has risen into a historic movement—a mass rebellion demanding justice, dignity, and freedom.
We recognize this uprising not as an isolated event, but as part of a global feminist resistance against capitalist, patriarchal, and authoritarian systems. The violence deployed by the Kenyan state—rubber bullets, live ammunition, tear gas, disinformation, and targeted sexual violence—is not unfamiliar to us. We denounce these tactics as instruments which are designed to crush resistance and punish those who dare to imagine and demand a different future.
We declare:
We affirm:
We condemn the Kenyan government’s deliberate use of sexual violence and state-sponsored goons to intimidate and violate protestors. These acts are crimes against the people and crimes against humanity. We demand full accountability, reparations, and justice for all survivors.
To our sisters in Kenya: Your struggle is our struggle. Your voices echo across borders. Your resistance strengthens ours. From Latin America to Asia, from Africa to Europe, from the Middle East to North America—we rise with you. We urge international human rights bodies, global feminist movements, and all people of conscience to pressure the Kenyan government to end its violent crackdown, respect the right to protest, and uphold human rights.
We call on our members and allies worldwide to amplify Kenyan voices, support grassroots organizing, and stand ready to act in solidarity.
In feminist resistance and global solidarity,
World March of Women
