WORLD MARCH OF WOMEN: FEMINIST STRENGTH TO TRANSFORM THE WORLD!

In 2023 we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the 1st International Meeting of the World March of Women where our feminist action movement was born in October 1998 in Montréal, Quebec. We grew into an international social movement –feminist, anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist– rooted in local struggles and local context and linked to class struggle. Today we are organized in national coordinating bodies in 61 countries.
Our values and actions are aimed at political, economic and social change for a radical transformation of the world. They are values that focus on the globalization of solidarity; equality between women and men, among women themselves and among peoples; respect and recognition of diversity among women; and the strength of alliances among women and with other progressive social movements.
Today the advances of new forms of colonialism, racism, misogyny, accumulation by dispossession, and the impacts of climate change demand us to develop new forms of resistance and to construct alternatives that can sustain women’s struggles and possibilities for transformative solutions.
Inspired by women’s local struggles, during the 13th International Meeting in 2023, four action areasemerged, around which the WMW deepens its analysis and strengthens its action leading up to 2025:
- Defending commons against transnational corporations
- Feminist economy based on sustainability of life and food sovereignty
- Autonomy over bodies and sexuality
- Peace and demilitarization
We work in actions to strengthen analysis, practices and sectors of the feminist movement, aimed at structural change and the true equality and autonomy of all women.
Every 5 years an international action of the World March of Women calls and mobilizes all of us, connecting our organizational processes and struggles at the local level with the global force of feminism in movement.
The international actions are moments of construction and expression of our political synthesis, when articulated from the local, regional and international levels we present our denouncements and proposals. Our resistance marches together with our proposals and practices of building strength, of women’s self-organization, of feminism as the axis of systemic alternatives.
In 2025, from March 8 to October 17, we will march around the world against wars and capitalism and for ‘buen-vivir’ and sovereignty over bodies and territories.
The 6th International Action will start in Western Sahara on March 8 alongside simultaneous marches and actions around the world and end with an international gathering in Nepal on October 17.
We link our struggle against transnational corporations with the struggle for social justice organizing a week from April 24, feminist solidarity day against transnational corporations to Mayday.
