World March of Women Statement of Solidarity with the Sahrawi people
The World March of Women stands in full solidarity with the Sahrawi people following the devastating floods that struck the Wilaya of Dakhla in the Sahrawi refugee camps on September 22nd and 23rd, 2024. The heavy rains and subsequent flooding have severely damaged homes, schools, and hospitals, forcing around 350 families to relocate to safer areas.
We recognize the ongoing struggles of the Sahrawi people, who have already endured displacement and hardship, and we extend our heartfelt support during this critical time. The damage to homes and public infrastructure, including essential health and educational facilities, compounds the suffering of these communities.
We echo the urgent call from the Sahrawi Red Crescent for immediate assistance. We call on international donors, humanitarian organizations, and allies to mobilize resources and support for the Sahrawi refugees, who are in dire need of shelter, food, medical care, and reconstruction efforts.
The World March of Women reaffirms its commitment to solidarity with all displaced and marginalized communities. We will continue to stand with the Sahrawi people in their struggle for dignity, justice, and peace.
In solidarity,
World March of Women
